The Festival of Trees in Fort Myers, Florida

While visiting Fort Myers, make sure to schedule some time to see the Festival of Trees. This is a great event to attend, and will get you in the holiday mood. Beautifully decorated holiday trees and lavish wreaths will fill the historic Sidney and Berne Davis art center. Each tree is decorated by a different sponsor for the event. These trees are then created with a theme in mind. Some examples of the themes are toys, teddy bears, gingerbread men, or any other theme you can think of. Some trees are decorated in a more traditional way. This includes snowflakes, ornaments, garland, and bows. A few trees are decorated more unconventionally, like with origami cranes, seashells, or sports memorabilia. Those who attend are encouraged to vote on their favorites. The categories you can vote for are most creative, most traditional, and best all-around tree. The mayor will also select his favorite tree at the end of the festival.

What is the Festival of Trees?

The Festival of Trees is an event that is held annually. It will display a beautiful arrangement of trees that are decked out in unique decorations. Each year the decorators will find more unusual and beautiful ways to decorate the trees. Some are decorated in ornaments, tinsel, or with objects like teddy bears and candy that sit upon the branches. Others are decorated more traditionally with ornaments, ribbons, and bows. There are even some trees that are decorated with power tools, sports teams, or dog toys. Usually, over six thousand people will visit the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center to see this beautiful display of trees. There is a small admission fee, but all proceeds help benefit the Southwest Florida Goodwill Foundation. Sponsors of the event decorate the trees.
